Mrs. Burg’s Principal Report

1.        Grade Report:  There have been improvements made due to the surveys completed by the parents at the

end of last year.  A concern was parents wanted to see more than two indicators (S & IP) because that was too broad of a range.  This year you will see I=In Progress, P = Proficient and E= Exceeds Expectations.  Also this year, gym, music and specials will not receive letter grades for grades 4-8.  Parents thought that to be too much.  OLA will mentor Resurrection, St. Leo’s and Lebanon Catholic Schools this year for the Grade Report.  Remember, the Grade Report is a snap shot of one period in time!

2.        Birthday Celebration:  275 RSVP’s to the picnic this Sunday, 9/16.  Directions and reminders to follow in the Friday folder this week.  If you can help setup and clean up please sign the help sheets. In October a flyer will be sent home for information regarding the school trip to Philadelphia on April 2, 2008.  The day will start with a Mass at the Cathedral with Fr. Joshua Brommer.  The younger children will go to the zoo and the older children will elect their activities for the day.  A candy bar sale will be held to fund the buses for the school trip.

3.        Middle States:  On April 20, 2008 a review team will be at OLA (3-4 people) to compare OLA’s plan vs what is actually being done.  They will meet with some parents, teachers and Mrs. Burg.  They will review our school and decide if OLA gets “the seal of approval”.

Hoss’s Night, prior to the start of school, made H & S $423.00.

Bridge Bust is on Saturday, October 6.  Bonnie Reich, Beth Bossart and Rebecca Haas are Chairpersons.  Volunteers are needed and a flyer will be forthcoming.  Volunteers needed Friday evening to bag baked goods and ice the drinks at the PB.  Saturday morning setup takes place.  Volunteers needed to maintain the stand; 8the graders can receive service hours.  4:00 is tearing down.  A raffle item is needed?  PB will do bake goods, Grade 4-6 will do Drinks & Grade 7-8 will donate $1 for water.

Halloween Parade is Thursday, October 25.  Jen Kirchner & Barb Katalinas Chairpersons.  The theme is “American Heros”.  Flyer will be forth coming.  Mandy Sahd will research getting a flat bed for the parade.  Possible Saints theme for OLA with the incorporation of our birthday theme.

Sub Sale order sheet is coming in the September Family Envelope.  Orders due back 10/12 & subs delivered on 10/25 at the PB for pickup from 2:30-4 or orders may be sent home with child.  Chairpersons are Kelly Brommer and Julie Brommer.
