EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS

Our Lady of the Angels received a check from Upromises Inc for $60.13. We also received a check from Target for $99.71. We appreciate friends and family who participate in these programs.

BASKETBALL

Congratulations to the 5th and 6th grade girls for taking third place at the St. Joseph Tournament. Our Varsity boys did an excellent job at Round Robin and also brought home the Sportsmanship Award from the Deanery.

NUTRITION AND WELLNESS

When packing lunches I encourage parents to make healthy choices for their children. It is important that children learn early to make healthy choices whenever possible. Students are not to share food and we do this for a variety of reasons.

MUSIC FEST

Our Music Fest is scheduled for May 15th. There will be two performances 1:30 and 7:00. The instrumental students will perform as well as students in grades 4 through 8.

SHOES

The safety of the students comes first so it is important that the shoes they wear to school provide that safety. Students are not to wear open toe shoes, shoes without a back or any other style that may cause them to fall or slip.

THANK YOU

I want to thank Gayle Rowett for getting us started with the Moo Money. It has been a great fundraiser and recently Gayle received a note from Turkey Hill congratulating OLA for being the top collectors so far. Your help is greatly appreciated.

ANNUAL APPEAL

We have reached our goal and the donations continue. Donations are accepted at any time. We appreciate all the financial support we have received from the Annual Appeal. May God bless you for your generosity and support.

OUR LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

As of this date our last day of school is June 8th. We will dismiss at 10:30.

School districts will NOT provide transportation at dismissal.  The location for Mass will be announced in the next newsletter.

SHORTS

The shorts that the boys and girls are wearing are to be uniform shorts purchased from the uniform company. I am seeing numerous styles and lengths. Please abide by the uniform code.

TRACK MEET

Each year the Ephrata Knights of Columbus sponsor a Track Meet for fifth through eighth grade students. Mrs. Jean Chmiel is organizing this event. The event takes place on Sunday May 6th at the Lancaster Catholic High School Track. All are invited to attend and cheer our team.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION

We would like to express our gratitude to all our wonderful volunteers with a special luncheon. The luncheon will be on May 25th at 12:15. After the luncheon we invite you to attend the Student Council sponsored talent show in the gym.  Please let us know if you will be able to join us by May 18th. We look forward to seeing you.

HISTORY EXHIBIT

I want to thank Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Benko for coordinating this event. The turnout this year was terrific. This was a nice opportunity for the students to let their light shine through their academic accomplishments.

ALL ARE WELCOME

There are always many exciting things happening here at Our Lady of the Angels. We do not always make formal invitations to parents and friends because some events may be short or geared toward the children however you are always welcome to attend.

HALF WAY

Tomorrow is the half way point in the third trimester. You will be receiving Progress Notices. We ask that you sign and return them because that is the only way that we know they have reached you. You will find them in the Friday Folder on April 27.

FINAL GRADE REPORT

Your child will not receive their final Grade Report on the last day of school. It will be mail to you later in the month of June. This way there will be instruction until the children are dismissed on

June 8th.

MIDDLE STATES

The Steering Committee continues to work on the community study while the faculty works on the curriculum. The review team will be here from April 20, 2008 until April 23, 2008. It will be an exciting time for us as we work toward our Middle States Accreditation.

YOUNG AT HEART DANCE

All of our mature friends are invited to the second Young at Heart Dance of the year. This dance is hosted by our 7th graders. Plan to dance the afternoon away on Friday May 11th at 1:30.

FIELD DAYS

On our Field Days ALL children will be purchasing a packed lunch from the school. So please do not send lunch on that day. The Primary students will be having their Field Day on Monday

May 21st and the Elementary students’ will be Tuesday May 22nd.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

There is a great group of people working on this wonderful event and we will keep you informed. The BIG kick off is scheduled for May 18th.

A “BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION”

Our Lady of the Angels School will be celebrating their 10th Birthday during the next school year, 2007-2008, and have already started planning many events for this “special” occasion.  If anyone wishes to make a monetary donation to the school to help support these plans we would greatly appreciate it.  Here are just a few items we are working on:

  • School picnic
  • Bus trip to Philadelphia, the birth place of our nation.
  • Dinner/Dance
  • In school activities such as, festivals, movie & bingo night, concert, etc.
  • T-shirt for the children to wear throughout the school year on special events.
  • School banner, buttons, special letterhead, etc.

Please send your donation to the school office or place it in the Sunday church collection basket in an envelope marked “OLA’s 10th Birthday Celebration”.  We continue to keep our parish families in our prayers and truly appreciate the support given to our school.  May God Bless you.

LENTEN SERVICE PROJECTS

I want to thank Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Chmiel and Mrs. Carey for sponsoring the Lenten Service Projects. This is a great way to observe the Lenten Season.

CREATIVE ARTS FAIR

On Wednesday April 25th and Thursday April 26th from 7PM until 8PM the wonderful works of your children will be on display at our Creative Arts Fair. Please visit the displays at the Elementary Building.

OPEN HOUSE

There will be an Open House during the Creative Arts Fair so please invite your neighbors and friend who may be thinking about sending their children to Our Lady of the Angels.  Both buildings will be open.

FLOWERS FOR MARY

On Friday May 4th our second graders will crown Mary after the regularly scheduled Friday Mass. We ask that you send flowers for Mary’s altar on Thursday May 3rd. We will also be presenting a check to the Lung Association in memory of Emily Geyer.
