STOP THE RUMOR

At our open House in January two parents approached me about Our Lady of the Angels closing. They simply said that they had heard it. There is NO intention of closing Our Lady of the Angels School. The only thing that has ever been discussed was the feasibility of consolidating into one building.

So please stop the rumor.

2008 – 2009 SCHOOL CALENDAR

A 2008 -2009 school calendar is enclosed. A more detailed calendar is sent home in the family envelope in August.

NEUMANN SCHOLARSHIPS

Included in your registration packet (which was sent home on February 8th) there was a worksheet to determine if you are eligible for the Neumann Scholarship. If you determined you are eligible you may request an application from either office and we will be more than happy to send one home. I ask that you do this as soon as possible in case we need to order more applications. Thanks to the generosity of businesses, Our Lady of the Angels families will receive in excess of $145,000 in tuition assistance.

LENT

On Fridays during Lent our children will participate in either Stations of the Cross or Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. These prayers begin at 2:00pm and are geared toward the children. The students will also participate in weekly prayer services focusing on the Stations of the Cross. The students at the Primary Building will have their Prayer Service on Tuesday morning and at the Elementary Building Wednesday morning.

DANGEROUS PRACTICE

We ask that you NOT drop or pick up children on the opposite side of the street. This is for your child’s safety. As a principal I witnessed one accident where a child was hit crossing the street and I certainly DO NOT want it to happen again. Please follow the instructions for dropping your children off and picking them up for their safety.

CONGRATULATIONS

Second graders at St. Peter Church and Holy Trinity received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time this past month.

Congratulations boys and girls.

PROSPECTIVE PARENT NIGHT

On Thursday February 28th there will be an information night for any family interested in sending their children to Our Lady of the Angels. This night has been advertised in the newspapers, but you are our best source of information so please share this date with family, friends and business associates.

CALENDAR CHANGE

Talent Show and Volunteer Appreciation will be on Thursday May 22nd.

This is a change from the calendar.

SPRING CONFERENCES

There is a half day scheduled for conferences on Wednesday April 9th.  Parents or teachers may request conferences at that time. You will be receiving your child’s second grade report on March 14th.  There will be no bus transportation at the 12:30 dismissal time.

PRO-LIFE T-SHIRTS

A flyer is enclosed with this newsletter. If you purchase the t-shirt your son or daughter may wear it with jeans on

April 29th.

IDENT-A-KID

This program will be at our school on

Feb. 26th and 27th for those parents wishing their child to participate.  The children will be photographed, weighed, measured and fingerprinted with the information being placed on ID cards for the parents use.

PRIMARY BUILDING PICK UP

We have asked that the children not go running up the walk when parents come to pick them up. Parents are asked to walk to the door to get their child/ren.  PLEASE do not cross your child/ren in the middle of the street, it is EXTREMELY dangerous and against the law.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

We are grateful to the families who donated supplies for the school in New Orleans. I am sure they appreciate our support.

MASS SCHEDULE

The Mass location for Our Lady of the Angels for February 22nd was changed so that the Bishop could celebrate the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter at St. Peter Church. This will not effect the mass schedule for the remainder of the year.

MIDDLE STATES

The Middle States steering committee is ready to send the document to be printed. Sr. Catherine Clark is the chair of our review team and she will be here next week for her pre visit. The team will be here from April 20th to April 23rd.
