OUR MILITARY

We are creating a bulletin board on our military service people. If you have information and/or pictures you would like to share please send them to the school office.

PRIMARY BUILDING PARKING

I ask that when volunteering or visiting that you park in the newer parking lot. There are many times that children are playing in the old lot and no one wants any child harmed.

FAMILY LUNCHEONS

Our first two family luncheons have been a big success. I want to thank those who attended, as well as the cafeteria personnel for the preparation of the meal and the volunteers for making this a special family event.

GOLDEN APPLE AWARD

In this envelope you will find a nomination form and the criteria for the Golden Apple Award. I ask that you take a few moments to consider nominating one of our teachers. The teacher may be nominated by a parent or student.

FRIDAY FOLDERS

One of our main forms of communication is the Friday Folder. We only send information home in the Friday Folder or Family Envelope. There have only been a FEW exceptions to this rule. If you would like something to go home in the Friday Folder we must have it by the end of the day on Wednesday.

SCHOOL PICTURES

On November 7th the students will have their school pictures taken. They are permitted to DRESS UP on picture day. Picture money must be sent to school on or before November 7th. All checks are to be made payable to Lifetouch NOT Our Lady of the Angels.  All children will have their picture taken however purchasing the pictures is optional. Thank you for your cooperation.

All Saints Day is a Holyday of obligation. The students will be attending Mass at the respective sites.

STUDENT COUNCIL

CRAZY HAIR DAY

All students are invited to participate in Crazy Hair Day on Thursday October 25th.

**IMPORTANT**

We have a student that has had a liver transplant and we are very happy to have her with us. I would like to share some information with you. I will quote from the letter from the University of Pittsburgh Transplant Institute. “It would be imperative to notify the child’s parents of chicken pox exposure or outbreaks. An exposure is considered to be one hour face to face contact with a child that has a confirmed case of chicken pox.  The child with the liver transplant would have up to 72 hours to be sent to a local emergency room to initiate treatment to help protect the transplant graft.” So please keep the office informed of any contact with a child that has the chicken pox. Thank you in advance for your concern and help.

SHOE BOX PROJECT

Each year Sr. Anna sponsors a shoebox project. Families fill a box with items for a girl, boy, infant or other. They then wrap the box and send it in to school. On the Monday before Thanksgiving there is a prayer service and the boxes are blessed and then distributed to the less fortunate. Sr. Anna will be sending a flyer home with all the details. The project begins on November 2nd.

FIRST MARKING PERIOD

Wednesday November 21st is the end of the first marking period. The second marking period begins on Tuesday November 27th.

COST SAVING

As you are aware we are sending monthly statements in the Family Envelope. If you have questions about your statement I ask that you address it immediately. I appreciate those families that are faithful in making their tuition commitment.

2006–2007 appeal.

SEPARATE CHECKS

We ask that you write separate checks. It becomes very confusing if you write one check for lunch money, scrip. gym uniforms and/or stationery fees. So please make things less confusing and send in separate checks.

THANK YOU

A special word of gratitude to the following parents who agreed to supervise classes once a month from 2:00-2:45 so that the teachers can share and grow professionally:

Mrs. Heather Hornick

Mrs. Lori Ressler

Mrs. Valerie Schauren

Mrs. Carolyn Best

Mrs. Lisa Grove

THANK YOU PARENTS

You are doing a wonderful job using the zipper pouches to send in money. We appreciate your cooperation; it makes things in the office go a lot smoother. Way to go parents!

SCISSORS

Students are not to have scissors in their possession. Teachers hand them out when they are needed and then collect them. Scissors can be considered to be weapons. Hopefully you recall the information I sent home last year on this subject.

ELEMENTARY BUILDING

MORNING DROP OFF

Parents are not to drop children off at the curb. They are to pull into the parking lot. Please pull forward at least ˝ the distance of the lot. Around 8’o clock there is a back log. PLEASE wait to let your children out of the car until you have pulled far enough into the parking lot. This may take a little more time but it is the safer way. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in providing a safe environment for ALL the children at Our Lady of the Angels.
