SPECIAL DAYS

The students had a chance to express their creativity with Crazy Hair Day on Thursday October 26th.

The Harvest Festival was a fun time for everyone. Special acknowledgement goes to Mrs. Fischer, her committee and the many volunteers.

Pastries for Parishioners was another big success as students shared their talents with those in attendance.

Young at Heart Dance sponsored by Mrs. G, her husband and the eighth graders. It was a fun time enjoyed by one and all.

Major Detz was welcomed home by the students on October 23rd. It was a great experience for the students

Picture Day was November 8th and there were smiles everywhere. The students will also have their pictures taken in the spring. In the spring you will be able to choose from proofs.

An Ice Cream Sundae Party was our reward for being the first organization to turn in 3000 moo caps. It was a great time and we enjoyed our special guest Turkey Hilda. We could not have done it without all the help from our volunteers and a special thanks to Gayle Rowett for spearheading this fundraiser.

The Book Fair was another great success thanks to Mrs. Spicer and her volunteers.

CHRISTMAS SHOW

The date for the Christmas performance is Tuesday December 19th. There will be a performance in the afternoon at 1PM and one in the evening at 7PM. The show will be held at Saint Peter Church. We present the show in the church so that there is room for our guests however please remembers it is a church even though the Blessed Sacrament has been removed.

THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

On Friday December 8th the students will be attending Mass at their respective sites to fulfill their obligation.

FIRST MARKING PERIOD

The first marking period ends on Wednesday November 22nd. You will receive your child’s Grade Report at conferences on Monday December 4th or Tuesday December 5th.  There is a 12:30 dismissal on December 5th. You should have received your forms to sign up for times. The forms were due back on Friday, Nov. 10th.

COLD WEATHER UNIFORMS

Beginning Monday November 20th students may no longer wear shorts to school. For gym classes they are to wear their Our Lady of the Angels sweat suit. They are required to wear a tee shirt under the sweatshirt. They do not have to wear shorts under their sweatpants. That is personal preference. If it becomes warm in the classroom the teacher may have the students remove their sweatshirt so they must have Our Lady of the Angels tee shirt. So the three required pieces of gym apparel (for the cold weather) are Our Lady of the Angels tee shirt, Our Lady of the Angels sweatshirt and Our Lady of the Angels sweatpants. If they do not have these three pieces of clothing they are to wear their regular school uniform and change into shorts and tee shirt for gym class.  There is an order form for gym uniforms enclosed with this family envelope.  This will be the last order for the 2006-2007 school year.

ENTERING THE BUILDINGS

I know that you understand our reasoning for locking doors and having visitors sign- in, in the office. This is only for the safety of your children. During the past several weeks when the door has been opened for a visitor another visitor joined them and we were not aware that they were in the building. The solution is to notify the secretary that someone else entered with you.

NEUMANN SCHOLARSHIP

The families of Our Lady of the Angels will have $80,000 in tuition assistance for the 2007-2008 school year. We are grateful to our generous benefactors.

ADOPT–A-HIGHWAY

The Student Council had their first clean-up on Saturday, October 14th. I want to thank the students and parents who gave up their Saturday morning for this worthwhile project. There will be a winter pick up and we’ll be asking the 7th grade class to pitch in and help.

READING PROGRAM

On November 6th the parents of the children in the Primary Building were invited to an open discussion on the reading program. During this evening the teachers described the program and took questions from the parents. I want to thank the teachers for their presentation and the parents who took the time out of their busy schedules to attend and learn a little more about how they can help their children.

MEDICATION

We will not administer medication that does not have the proper documentation. This is for your child’s safety. Students may not carry medication back and forth to school. Parent or guardians are to bring the medication along with the consent form to the office.  I hope you understand that these precautions are for your child’s health and well being.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Students are not permitted to bring electronic devices to school. This includes cell phones and CD players.

TRANSPORTATION

We continue to get numerous calls at the end of the day concerning how a child is to go home. This time of the day is extremely busy. Unless it is an emergency please inform your child before you leave them in the morning as to how they will be getting home.

During the season of Advent the children will be participating in a special Prayer Service each week. This year we will be using the Jesse Tree as our focus. The children at the Primary Building will gather each Tuesday morning during Advent and the children at the Elementary Building will gather on Wednesday morning.
